Unix at SNC
The main UNIX system in the Computer Science department here at SNC is compsci. compsci is a Solaris system. Students are granted accounts on compsci as needed for coursework. If you are a computer science major interested in an account on compsci, please contact dawn.rohm@snc.edu
Additionally, the UNIX systems here at SNC use NFS to remotely mount the
/export/home directory from CompSci to each of the linux systems. The
/export/home directory contains both your user directory and all of the
course directories. Note that all linux systems use you standand SNC password for login.
CompSci
- CompSci is a Unix system running on x86 architecture. It is maintained
by the Computer Science department.

- OpenSSH is installed on compsci, if you would like to use ssh from a PC, PuTTY can be downloaded here
- If you would like to upload/download files to/from compsci, you will need a secure ftp or scp client. WinSCP can be downloaded at http://winscp.net/eng/download.php
